Rutgers University seeks to use distance learning to promote the threefold mission of teaching, research and service, providing the same high quality academic program that is found on campus. RutgersOnline extends access to the resources of the university through the Internet-based distance learning program, especially for non-traditional, working adult students who are off campus. The hallmarks of the Distance Learning program are high quality in the academic program, high level of interactivity for active learning and access to a wide range of resources only found at a top research university.
